Feature request: Special non linear/dated channels for guides, rules or documentation for ex.

Hi,

I'm using Discord for lots of stuff, from guild management in games to game development with my team.

There is something that I always end up wanting: some channels that are not there to chat in real time, but to have some guides/documentation.

For example, I made some channels with guides on different aspects of a game, I'm the only one that can edit them. Works pretty good... but! When something changes or is added to the game, I'm often in a situation when I'd like to insert additional information in existing guides... but there is no room, cause I reached the character limit (I hate that limit so much) and I basically need to re-post every single message after the point where I need to insert stuff, breaking messages links in the process.

You could say that this kind of stuff should be done on a website or something like that. But it's really handy to have everything inside Discord, to link stuff directly in discussions, while also using bots. It also avoids having to open a navigator, you just need the game and Discord (which can be pretty important if we are talking about a mobile game for example).

Having special channels in which you can insert messages between existing messages would be very handy in that kind of situation.

Having more formatting options for this kind of stuff (like colored text, horizontal lines, embedded images...) would also be really cool, but that's not the main point of this feature request.

Exactly!

Many users use the discord for describing the games and using many channels and categories for it.
But all the channels show only the last message. Users need to scroll up the channel to find the info.

My suggestion is to create a property for a channel like "web page". Also, a channel, where can be set up where it will be open when a user is going there - also a position can be set up and not always only the last message. This "web page" channel should able to change the pictures in the message and to edit the message für every user, who has the extra role for it.

We have on discord already a channel for speaking and a channel for chatting. We need a channel for describing, build like a "web page".
