Filter Mature Language

Maybe discord could add a setting of filter mature language so kids who use discord could not see those words

    This is a great suggestion, although I'm certain that most server owners can add Discord Bots to do this, a great example is mee6 using it's dashboard you can filter bad language.
    And server owners can also use different settings to enable moderating that will automatically delete these messages.

    Yeah, certain bots will automatically delete messages if it contains a blacklisted word. So if your server is meant for children, for example, you could do that.

    I think it would be nice if there could be a local filter option, though. It would come with a generic thing, but you could set it to filter out specific words, too. Like maybe you just really hate the word flesh and you never want to see it, so you blacklist that. I dunno. It'd be nice, anyway.

    We saw how that went on Steam or any platform for that matter (it's really bad), so I really don't think it's a good option. Use bots when necessary.

    You'd also have to consider that such a system should've to ban nearly every bad word for nearly every language used on discord (there're a lot), and even ban words that would seem acceptable to some, but not for others. Really a bad feature imo.

    I believe they're saying a client side thing, so it's only your specific window of discord that is "censoring" the words.

    As what Princesslapis says, a feature that sensors the words that you choose to sensor so they dont have to build a system for all bad words in all language's

    A bot will only work for a server owned by whoever wants this feature, and it will block those words for everyone on the server.

    Much better would be a client-side feature that would allow each user to show or block words on their account, regardless of what server they are on.  This would allow anyone to continue posting using whatever words they choose, while those who do not wish to read such words can filter them for themselves.
