February interface changes still not reverted or made optional
I have been unable to look at even a mildly active text channel or chat for more than about two or three minutes on end since these changes got forced onto us. I've talked to quite a few people about this in the meantime, and it seems like there's three camps: those who hate the new changes, those who don't care one way or another or didn't even notice them, and those who love them. At least, there should be, but I've seen about 85% people who don't care and 15% people who noticed and hated it. Yet to find someone who actually noticed them and loved them.
Those of us who use compact mode, especially, have made a choice to forego fluff for usability: clearly readable text with minimal distraction.
Now any channel or chat just looks like a pile of text instead of having structure. Scrolling or trying to find a specific message is harder. Just reading the text is harder because there are now moving or appearing/disappearing elements that used to not be there. It was worse that I couldn't even find a list explaining what had changed, there was just an overwhelming sensation of "everything feels wrong" but not being able to narrow it down because too many things felt off at the same time.
Horizontal dividers, one of the things we've known makes text more legible and structured since the most advanced form of sharing text was the printing press, are now gone. I can't fathom of a reason to do this, let alone a valid one. There is such a thing as conventional wisdom for a reason, sometimes.
Worse still, this happened right after I subscribed to Nitro so I could support the Discord server of someone who's doing something I want to encourage, and it's making me regret the timing and even consider dropping Nitro despite not even getting it just to support Discord.
We're not asking for much. Let us keep what we're used to and don't force negative changes onto us. Adding the old interface as an option wouldn't even be much work, unlike some other seemingly simple requests on the feedback forum.
The update released today just served as a reminder that I've been waiting too long to be able to properly use what is, as of recently, my main way of communicating with a lot of people.

yeah, the LARGE BAR OF EMOJIS fluttering over text is going too far. had to turn off reaction emojis specifically for that.
it adds no further functionality as it existed before. was there a reaction emoji quota and they've been missing it?
