Audio and/or Post Production Pro features with Social Distancing
I am part of an audio production company and can see Discord's "Go Live" playing a big part in the future of post production sessions worked and approved remotely if these features are included. Myself and many other people like me would be happy to pay quite well for this. Especially in this time of 'Social Distancing'.
1) Upgraded audio codec to support stereo along with fixed bandwidths that can be set, in order to stream consistent, quality audio.
2) Stream buffer settings. In order to compensate for the increase in bandwidth, and in order to allow for a more stable stream in "Go Live". A buffer of between 1 and 3 seconds is totally manageable from a client perspective and working with multiple people commenting and approving.
3) Audio capture from applications in MacOS. Feedback I've received from Discord is that the issue with application sharing is a MacOS issue and requires a kernel plugin. Obviously, most audio and video post production facilities use Macs. While loopback audio is a possibility, this will cause sync issues between video and audio when incorporating a buffer setting as per my point 2. A way around this could be to set a custom audio delay / buffer in order to sync up the audio to video.
I realise that this is not in Discord's usual scope of user, but this is also an opportunity to expand that scope..... In These Times™
