Tag servers and channels in DMs
Generally speaking a support for tagging similar to '@username' anywhere in the app would be great.
Like in a DM being able to tag #serverName or #channelAcrossJoinedServers and referencing/linking (perhaps even inviting) would come up.
Example use-cases:
- "Hi mate, I'm sitting with @x in #y - Feel free to join us".
- "Checkout this post in #x:119" (Would view message number :119 in channel X. This obviously requires access to some UID for that message for linking)
Clicking "@x" would setup DM to that user, "#y" would join that channel (or view it in the event of a text channel)

You can do,
<@Member-ID>
<#Channel-ID>
But what I think you're saying is an easier way?

Wasn't aware of that, but tagging based on ID makes it a lot less useful imo. The usability is relatively low in my opinion if I the "tagger" has to look up the ID before doing the tagging. I am not even sure how to find the Channel ID of a channel on a 'server'.
Honestly I feel my request is probably multiple stories:
1. User being able to tag a server in a DM
2. User being able to tag a channel in a DM
3. User being able to tag a different user in a DM
4. User being able to tag a server in a channel
5. User being able to tag a channel in a channel
6. User being able to tag a different user in a channel
7. User being able to create invites to servers/channels by tagging in a DM (perhaps an option upon performing the tagging)

"I am not even sure how to find the Channel ID of a channel on a 'server'."
This requires being in developer mode, but once you do that it's in the context menu alongside options like "mute channel," just at the bottom.

Just do <#Channel-ID> In Dm's or <@Member-ID> Spicy Cheese Pizza

Hi Bjorn
Thank you for your contribution. I kindly ask that you read the existing comments to this thread, as you suggestion has already been provided, and a reasoning as to why it does not fit the root cause of the feature request was also provided in return.

If you're on browser you can just check the URL to find the ID.
