Screen share/ webcam in a voice channel, no longer works in 57xxx. Yes! it used to work great!
I wanted to share how you used to be able to share screens and webcams all in the server voice chat, but now it's no longer working.
Previously to version 57xxx, you used to be able to create a custom link to a channel,(https://discordapp.com/channels/<ServerID>/<ChannelID>/ ) that would show all the users as a box, and allow you to share your screen or app, or webcam. And anyone that clicked that link, could watch all the screens, or webcams at the same time. If anyone were to double click any of those screens, it would focus to that one screen or webcam. Double clicking again would go back to the multi view with everyone. Very intuitive! Worked perfectly! Now it does not.
Now it behaves like the go live button did, which is undesirable . It's undesirable because it has some severe limitations.
If you go live and share your screen or game, you can only view your frozen preview of your stream, no one else's go live session, or any other webcams. ( Can't see your viewer faces )
Viewers can only watch one go live stream at one time.
If a broadcaster wanted to see what someone else was sharing and clicked on their stream, it would end their stream, viewers would get dumped. Keep in mind people are probably in a full screen game, and the thought of ever going back to someones stream. is probably not going to happen again. That streamer lost all credibility because they wanted to see what someone else was showing.
Discord streaming isn't and shouldn't be a competitor to twitch streaming. In Discord, we want to share what's on our screen and see the faces of everyone else while interacting with them. or see what's on their screen as you go through a...
If it's a resource thing why you can't watch and broadcast at the same time, then why increase viewer limit from 10 - 50? No one want's to have a small twitch stream where you can't see your viewer screens, or collaborate only up to 50 people? If you want to broadcast and be on stage, just use twitch.
Discord is so close to being a fantastic tool for meetup groups, and virtual offices, or just playing jackbox with friends and being able to see their faces, where you haven't seen them in weeks. Now we're stuck in our own broadcast.
Now's not the time to optimize a feature that is going to change the way we communicate.

I have to agree with this, I enjoyed gaming with my friends while I could both share my screen and see what they were up to at the same time. Changing the screen share to the go live system makes it feel more clunky.
