Embed message URLs

Discord currently allows copying of message URLs and for clicking on a message URL to take you to the message. Despite this convenience, this feature is underused. I think discord message URLs should work like tweet URLs in twitter: showing an embed/preview. I feel like this would be not only look better than the incredibly long URLs of messages (assuming discord either hides or cuts off the original URL), but would also be incredibly useful for quoting and highlighting messages. This could even replace or work alongside with discord’s current “quote” shortcut for messages.

    Yeah, message URL formatting would be nice. I was thinking something along the lines of this:

    Because now it's just the IDs of server, channel, message and that doesn't tell you anything about where/when you'll land.

    Personally i'd like something more like what Twitter does, embed the full message so you dont have to click to see it

    Yeah I went for a less intrusive style.

    The best of both worlds would be if my example is the collapsed version, that when you click the message part you expand the embedded part and when you click the link icon, you go to the original message. I hope the devs pick this up.

    Yes, I would really appreciate this. Our server currently has a bot that creates a preview of the message, but it still leaves the ugly URL and isn't clean. This is a must-have feature.

    Old request but would be a great QoL update to reference previous messages. I also think the same principle should be applied to CDN links. Right now, when you send a video to someone, it shows the nice embed, but if you copy the URL to send it again, it shows the ugly URL instead of just the media embed.
