Disable All Video /Webcam Chat Option
My friends recently starting web cams while in voice servers, so naturally if I'm in that voice channel I also see their webcams.
Unfortunately, likely due to my older processor, if I'm in a video game as they're using their webcams, I drop FPS by about 50% making the game unplayable.
I cannot find an option to disable webcams on my end - it seems like if someone starts a webcam in a voice channel that allows it, all users in that voice channel must see the other person's webcam.
It seems insane that we wouldn't be able to disable the incoming webcam feed, so I feel like I'm missing something.
Is it possible for my friends to use webcams/video chat while I remain only in voice and never see their webcams?
--edit-- just to clarify, I've already tried many possible solutions (enabling/disabling hardware acceleration in appearance, messing with g/vsync, moving the pop out webcam images to my main 144hz monitor and leaving it in the background, making discord priority lower, etc. The core issue is that my processor is dated and seeing my friends 6 webcams is just too much while also running a modern game. Even right clicking them to turn off their webcams individually, which sucks and is something I'd need to do each time a new person joins, even then it still lags my PC. I would like an option to completely turn off/ignore all incoming video chat.)

Same.
If one of my friends is screensharing now-- it turns on the new Webcam Live Hud as well and now I can't use any of my programs in the background.
This used to be fine before the webcam compatibility-- I would watch a friend's Live while I did my own thing....Now it's just far too laggy to do so! I can't even do live MYSELF anymore. I don't know what discord did but it just EATS computers up for lunch.
Maybe having a way to have an option to just turn off that UI/Hud and go back to the OLD LIVE on a per-server basis would be nice? Maybe under srver settings. Since we can prevent people from using video ENTIRELY already.
TL;DR Give people an option to opt out of this new feature in SOME form to use the old stuff. I miss being able to watch my friends or show my art/games without lag.
It sucks because I was JUST complimenting the Live features 3 days before this dropped.4 -
Exactly this. It is absolutely absurd that live video is forced into the channel without consent. If you tried to use the argument that I've given consent by joining any given channel, you would be making the assumption that the information needed to make a choice either way is clearly displayed. It isn't.
Beyond this ridiculously obvious issue, forcing video into the channel hogs computational resources which creates problems with the active game if you are unaware of what's happening.
I just don't get it.

Right click someone in a call and select "Disable video".
Unfortunately you have to do that operation for each participant who has video turned on.

I get it that i can disable peoples videos manually. The floating box of webcams should begone if i disabled all of their cameras

This would be a really great feature.
It's really heavy to process and upload/download video.Sometimes I wanna save CPU sometimes bandwidth. This feature would be awesome.

this needs to be an option. even a right-click option on the voice channel that disables the video feed would do.

Picture this: I have my phone in my pocket. Screen locked. I'm talking with two friends.
Suddenly they turn their screens on to look at each other. Now I'm lagging because it's using all of my bandwidth.
I'm. Not. Using. My screen.
This is beyond nonsensical. Please give us an option.
Edit: Wait why is this in the Text Chat section, lol.

Because there was no video section when I made this post over a year ago.
