Hello akki9211,
When speaking in the Discord application, make sure that the microphone that you are using is the default recording device on your system, this is actually really easy to configure.- Press Win + I
- Navigate to the System Tab.
- Click the Sound tab on the left side of the screen.
- Click the Sound Control Panel link under Related Settings at the top right.
- Click the Recording tab
- Click on the device use are using as a microphone and click Set Default
Next we want to make sure that Discord is using the proper microphone.
- Open up Discord and navigate to the User Settings
- Click on Voice & Video on the left side of the screen
- Make sure that the Default device is selected for Input Device
If people are still having a hard time hearing you, there are two things you can do:
- Adjust your Input Volume slider towards the right to increase your microphone volume. Or
- Have the people in your VC increase your User Volume by right clicking on your name in VC and moving the slider to the right.
If all of these fail, you could honestly just try and move the microphone closer to your mouth. It is very important akki0211 that you DO NOT eat your microphone.
- For an attached headset microphone, it should be about 1-2 inches away from you mouth.
- For most USB/XLR microphone, I would recommend about 4-6 inches is usually best.
When testing out your microphone volume, Discord has this cool feature Mic Test in the Voice and Video tab of your settings. It allows you to preview your microphone volume to yourself before you talk to other.
Hope this helps!1 -
Hi, I had the same issue and the solution above didn't work for me. What worked for me was the following:
User Settings (gear icon) > Voice & Video > Automatic Gain Control ON (different from Automatically determine input sensitivity!)
The reason why input was normal on browser but very quiet on desktop is because by default on browser, automatic gain control was on, but by default on desktop, automatic gain control was off (I think).
