Help for new users
I struggle to get started, even though I am a retired software engineer, with over 35 years' experience! The UI is minimal and I really struggled to 'get' the architecture at first. I find it telling that there isn't a "Help" or "Education" item in your list of 'feedback' topics!
I think that Discord has lots of potential, especially in these times. In particular it may help me to realise an old dream, that of managing 'Kriegsspiel' games online. Unfortunately however I have had to rely on YouTube videos of various kinds to piece together the information that I needed to know.
This has been a real struggle for me at times, because I have been depressed for most of my life, which is worst on my own. I am a lot better than I used to be but I could really do without the hassle caused by people being lazy or even ideological, frankly.
It wouldn't take much to improve matters - a larger screen on this page, for example. An explanation as to how an account corresponds to a server (I now believe), and you need more than one email address. That confused the hell out me, initially. Many others have been confused by that as well, apparently.
So, I applaud your efforts with the templates but I recently understood - I think - why I had to claim an account, but whenever I tried to do so it kept complaining about the same email address each time! A little explanatory text would be useful there. It looks to me like you are following this modern fashion of 'cool' design, but forgetting the needs of your customers who actually have to use the software.
Here's a tip: I read that Rack hosting have a 'little red book', containing the collected wisdom of direct feedback from their customers - especially the new ones!!! Very important, and you could set that up quite easily, I imagine. I dare say that a genuine effort to improve your Help focus and materials would be welcomed by many people.
God this tiny screen sucks. Sorry if that all seems harsh but I genuinely believe in facing facts and soliciting feedback, and I want to help if I can.
