Discord showing unread dot even though I changed notifications settings

I second that. There are many servers that I'm a part of but wouldn't like to be bothered about unless they are specifically talking/mentioning me. With the below notification settings I'm still seeing the white dot next to the server icon and thinking that they are mentioning me. If this incorrect behavior continues, it'll just condition me to ignore everything about that server, includeing when they are actually trying to reach out to me personally. Please please Discord Team, fix this for us! 🙏🏻

    Notification settings for server:
    - Mute <Server Name> - OFF
    - All Messages - OFF
    - Only @mentions - ON
    - Nothing - OFF
    - Suppress @everyone - ON
    - Suppress All Role @mentions - ON
    - Mobile Push Notifications - OFF
    - No channel overrides

    Expected behavior:
Never see white dot next to server icon unless in one of the channels the mentioned @me. Only channels highlighted and having white dot on left are the ones where they mentioned @me.

Having the same problem. There is no reason I should be getting a notification from a message on a server configured this way... "Only @mentions" + "suppress @everyone and @here" are set, yet I got a notification when someone typed a message not @ anyone. Or maybe it was a welcome message. Point being I don't want ANY notification unless someone is typing @ me.

Same problem as el duderino. I changed all my notifications for every channel to "Only @mentions" and now the tray icon shows a red unread messages dot any time anyone types into a channel, and sometimes it shows an unread marker when there are absolutely no new messages anywhere.

Same thing here.  All servers are set to @mentions only, and yet I'm getting red dot for every meme posted anywhere.  I'd rather not nuke notifications off for Discord but I'm close to just nuking the whole program.

Edit oh nevermind Notifications for discord is set to off already, and this issue seems to be months on going for others so screw us I guess... Well I guess everyone I game with has Skype anyway means M$ forces that on us.

This is causing me issues too. It's really undesirable behaviour. I have the channels set to only notify on mentions but all the time I'm being told there are unreads there that I should read. It makes the platform unusable.

Hey all, I got so annoyed I finally got the answer on this. For whatever reason - do not ask me - Discord considers the "notification on the taskbar for unread messages" (their words), to not be a "notification", but rather considers it an "unread message badge" which has a completely separate way to turn off:  User Settings > Notifications > Enable Unread Message Badge, and make sure that it's disabled. This notification "badge" (in spite of all reason) has nothing to do with the server-specific notifications settings.

That didn't work for me, still have the white dot on server icon for any message, despite having my preferences set to only mentions. Annoying AF.
