New Mobile Layout

The new mobile layout that appeared on my Samsung Galaxy S10 is straight up nauseating. The way the whole UI shifts whenever you look at the server list and chat list or the member list is disorienting to the point of feeling car sick while using mobile. Not only that, but it just looks awful compared to the old and more functional UI.

    I'm fine with tabs but the chat shifting is incredibly disconcerting, I at the very least would like an option to change the ui movement back

    additionally: the new UI makes it a pain to even scroll up and down rereading/backreading a chat on mobile. Just accidentally swipe wrong and bam everything is shifting left/right instead of actually scrolling up/down. At least before, the DM list and chat options only show up when you swipe from the side.

    Mine just changed and it totally sucks!   Please change it back the way it was. 

    There was no purpose in changing this and making it less friendly!

    Agreed! It is giving me a headache. Everytime I type something, when it gets to a certain length, the whole message line shifts, then when going back there is another moving part, and so many things just move. There is no need for it to be moving so much, please make things static again. It honestly hurts to look at.

    Hi, Personally not a fan favorite of the new UI that's being tested. It shouldn't be too difficult to implement a switch in the settings to allow the usage of the older UI. Being forced into the newer one is potentially going to force some users to install a shady apk of an older version. This newer version is noticeably laggier than the older UI which makes app traversal a lot more difficult.

     

    Please allow for a button or switch to allow switching to an older UI.

    OK, I think I figured out why I and everyone hates the new UI. Before, it felt like the side bars from the desktop version were just off to the side, like a drawer or a side menu you could pull over whatever you were looking at.

    The NEW one takes away any reference points. The main chat moves around and the "background" contradicts itself.

    It's really difficult for me to remember that the chat now slides to the sides, it autoscrolls down past the people I'm talking to at the time, and it gets difficult for me to get into calls because it's at the top in a distracting bright green. I have a menu at the top for my phone (Google Pixel 2) and if I tap in places at the top I either open the call or get the drop down menu for brightness and stuff. Also with the new update, discord attached to my media volume to tell me I muted/unmuted and deafened/undeafened, and I haven't been able to make it stop, aside muting my media volume. Also the chat box now has less space so when I type long things I can't figure out how long they'd be anymore. I just want it to go back.

    Imho the tabs is an improvement - and I liked the old ui - because it reduces the ui clutter. However, the movement change of the chat moving increases ui 'noise' - the main feature of discord is communication, so moving the messages around is unnecessarily distracting and detracts from the user experience. Personally, I'm fine with the behaviour of the image buttons on latest alpha (hide when line overflows) - but having an option to make it appear only when summoned seems like it would appeal to the wider majority.

    I might be able to tollerate it on a phone, but it feels like tablets are forgotten about.

    If Discord stops supporting v15 of the app, I might have to move to something like Telegram.

    I've personally been using a year old apk of discord. I've adamantly refused to use their new layout.

    I've just been unable to use Android version in general. Old APK's will lack new features I genuinely want, and 3rd party clients may get you banned.

    Maybe continued activity on these posts may get someone's attention when they aren't as gun ho about their Autism unfriendly layout. Because when you have users who legit have a feeling like putting a hand to a hot stove when they so much as glimpse the paradox geometry, that's not a good thing.

    Have been using the desktop version, lots of work still needs to be done on the mobile app

    The 3rd party client thing possibly getting you banned is probably the worst part about it, you can't even use a alternate solution for the fear of.being banned
