UI: Current channel highlight makes it look like new activity there

The channel I was last looking at is highlighted in white text in the channel list within a server, which is confusing because it's the same highlight as on channels with new unread messages. This makes me keep thinking there's been a new unread message in this channel. This is in dark mode.

I see that there's an additional semicircular icon on the left of channels with new messages, but it's not prominent enough to differ from the current channel styling at a glance. I'd rather the current channel be marked with just the grey rectangle background highlight, and the color of the text be based on whether there's new unread activity.
