Provide controls to disable video autoplay
When I open Discord in my web browser, Discord is subject to by browser's video autoplay controls. I've disabled video autoplay in my browser.
But in the Discord app, particularly the Android app since version 21.3, there's no way to disable video autoplay, and there's no way to pause videos, and there's no way to mute videos. Videos that start playing in a channel keep playing, even if they're offscreen and even if you've switched to a different channel and then came back to the channel with the video.
Videos autoplay even on mobile data, turning Discord into a tremendous data hog.
This affects:
- uploaded videos
- linked videos like https://imgur.com/yDRA2tR (a cat jumping on a chair, which has some quite "bomf" sounds)
- linked MP4s like https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/697626762636558346/710178386298798100/video0-16.mp4 (a Darling in the FRANXX meme with screaming) and https://i.imgur.com/KjhA686.mp4 (a song overlaid on a dog waving its paws)
Please provide:
- a control to disable video autoplay across all servers
- play/pause and mute controls for video
This is different from the topic "Please allow me to disable any kind of autoplay in the activity and store tab" because it affects chat.
