Chromebook discord AWFUL

Just got a chromebook today - out of the box, the discord app was beautiful. An exact replica of the windows desktop interface I'm so familiar with.

I updated the chromebook OS and it immediately switched to a horizontal clone of the android smartphone layout, including ridiculous splitscreen, fullscreen individual chats, no ability to keep an eye on which of my servers have new messages while I type in a DM

This may seem like a minor frustration but the vast majority of my workday is spent interfacing with Discord. If this is just what I can expect Discord to look like on chromebook forever, I am legitimately going to return the chromebook!!

This is very upsetting, and I sincerely hope I'm just overlooking something very, VERY stupid and easy to fix.
