Profile Backgrounds for All Users

I propose that Discord should implement profile backgrounds for the profile pop out menu and profile modal.

There are several posts on here that suggest adding profile backgrounds for Nitro users only and that the background should only appear in the profile modal.

I believe it is reasonable for this feature to be available to all users with a maximum image size of 2 MB. It would be interesting to see if Nitro users could have the maximum image size increased or allow for animated backgrounds like with profile pictures.

    Personally, I would have this exclusive to Nitro users. For Classic Nitro users (like me), I would restrict such a thing to static, non-animated backgrounds, then for full Nitro users I would allow fully-animated backgrounds. Having this free for everyone without Nitro would require some other perks to be removed from non-Nitro users (in order to offset costs), and that would be more problematic to pull off and more unwelcome, so it’s best to have non-Nitro peoples have simple, plain backgrounds.
