[Feature Request] Option to disable *asterisk* auto-formatting.
Please add the ability to turn off asterisk auto-formatting by default, so that *phrases like these* show up exactly as they're written.
Asterisk-enclosed phrases have been a convention of online communication since the earliest days of internet culture, and it's absurd that Discord would disallow them (making the text italic instead), without any option to turn this "feature" off.

Hello,
you can use backslash for bypass the formatting

I know about the backslashes, but that's not what I asked for. I want a way to turn off this "feature" completely. Having Discord malform my text every time I try to roleplay in the canonical format that's been in use since the early 90s (phrases bounded on either side by asterisks) is really insulting to myself and many other users who can no longer express ourselves with formatting of our own choosing.
It's fine if you want these features for yourself, but I certainly don't, and it's really frustrating that there's no way to get rid of them.
How hard would it be to add a "disable text auto-formatting" option as one of the settings?

Is it really that hard to just add a backslash \ when you want to do that sort of thing? I mean hell, when I found out about the bypass, I adopted it immediately. I'm just mad YouTube doesn't have the same thing.

I'd appreciate this as "Automatically escape markdown formatting" (so it auto-adds the \ while typing?) as a toggle in the Text & Images settings; it'd be like how automatic emoticons to emojis can be disabled, but ":)" can still be sent unemojified while active by sending "\:)"
Combining it with compact message display for that real #IRC feel.2 -
In my opinion, there shouldn't need to be two Italic codes. We already have _these_ for italics, we don't need the asterisks. But if there's sufficient data to suggest it's more popular to use *these* for italics, then we can only accept the bypass.
