Mobile app no longer staying active in the background

This seems to be happening on iOS as well as Android.  The apps no longer keep active in the background.  Before the update, I could multitask and I would still show up as online.  Now, my status quickly changes to offline.  I've seen it happen with other people on my list, so it's not just my phone that is doing it. 

 

From the dropped calls Feedback I read earlier, it's probably the same issue.  The app is getting closed prematurely by the OS.

    Well-said, thank you. I've had the same issue on my Android devices and iPad! And when I come back on to the app, not only would my online status would return to being online again but my custom status would ALSO disappear as well which forces me to swipe off the app and open it again. D: I hope they fix this soon.

    I have contacted them directly about this, and they didn't seem to know what was going on. They said they haven't gotten other reports yet, and thought it might be battery-saving settings on my phone (it wasn't). However, since a couple updates ago (for Android version) this has been a big problem and is definitely happening with Android and Apple users of the app. 

    I really hope this is fixed, it is important for my friends and I to always show when we are available (and not as off/hidden) even if it is just that idle "moon." Discord has become our main way of keeping in touch and organizing games, which is impossible if no one knows we are even around because it now shuts down in the background.

    I have the same exact problem and I have also contacted discord about this isue but they said they don't know why try his is aswell as that it might just be my internet but that isn't the problem. It also seems that it switches between having good connection to then having bad connection.

    it is a big pain especially considering I play Minecraft on my phone a lot with my friends and it will keep kicking me out after like 5-10 min

    I really hope this gets fixed to because it makes using the app on mobile very inconvenient
