"last edited" timestamp (and possibility to see past revisions?)

at the moment, "(edited)" can mean anything from "this message log was falsified" to "woops! made a typo", and that is way too amibugous in my opinion - a last edited timestamp would be good enough, but the ability to see past revisions would be even cooler!

i'm also aware occasionally people use edited messages to hide accidentally shared personal informatio, vents, etc., so for that reason urging the community that past revisions are going to be accessible would be a really good move, assuming that goes through. encourage people to fully delete their messages, etc.
