Status updates

I’m not sure if this has been suggested before but i’d there was a way to broadcast an update that would be super helpful. E.g. instead of a status on my user profile, if I could post an update and it to appear on a section on the home screen. For example, saying I’m playing xyz and asking people to join so all my friends can see and not just people who can see my status when they are messaging me etc.
