Send Button, Emote Button, Lag, Failure to Scroll
Everyone I know has been complaining with me about the new mobile UI since it came out. Most updates we grumble to each other then readjust to the new stuff. This is the first time that's been impossible, and we've had quite a while to get used to it. This isn't just an update with new features, laid out differently. It's implemented changes that actually break the functionality of the app. Now it's set to not show the send button until AFTER we write. Every time we're on mobile, we go to type and the button doesn't show up right away. When it does, it shoves the text box over and is right next to the emote button, which started out where we expect the send button to be. Half the time it lags/glitches and sends our messages repeatedly. Sometimes (frequently) we hit the emote button by accident. That takes a few moments to load, and then lags the entire process so much more. I can only assume this was supposed to look simpler/cooler/more streamlined/something... But instead it just makes it look confusing/awkward, and causes the basic function of the app to be difficult to use at all. We frequently get fed up now when mobile is our only option for talking. The send button (the most BASIC feature) shouldn't disappear and reappear, imo. If it has to, it shouldn't cause the text box to move to make room for it. Nor should the emote button (or any other button) be right next to it, making it easy to bump the wrong thing and send something you're not ready to send, or stall you sending something urgent. A further issue; when you're typing, the text box no longer scrolls with you as you type. I have to click off and on the box for it to scroll down to my last word. It makes writing confusing and slow. It very much seems as though they were in a hurry to make everything look fancy and flashy and new and exciting... and didn't stop to think through what they were doing before implementing it, and just made a mess, instead. Thank god I can use the computer most of the time; it's fine on there. But the mobile app is a disaster. I really, really hope there are plans to rectify these particular issues; it's just bizarre that something that damages functionality of such a widely used app has been left as is for this long.
