My microphone wont work in voicechats

My microphone just gives up and dooesn't work when im in a voicechat, ut when i test it in you'r test to see if something is wrong with you'r microphone, it works. So why does it not work when im in a voicechat?

  On Windows 10, I installed the Discord application. The microphone stopped working. I tried the Windows diagnostics but to no avail. I uninstalled Discord from Windows 10 and now the microphone works fine.

  This was a bit of a pain. I have been using Zoom for many meetings and so after installing Discord, my microphone was not working and nobody could here by brilliant thoughts. I tried rebooting, running Windows 10 diagnostics, etc. Once I uninstalled Discord, the microphone resumed working.

  I'm on a Surface Book with latest Windows 10 OS.
