Screen goes black due to sensor

If I put my hand or any other part of my body over the proximity, the screen goes black. This is very irritating. Can't even play games while in discord voice channels. The screen repeatedly goes black unnecessarily.

Edit: The workarounds are to switch to loud speaker or plugging in earphone before joining the voice channel. I don't know why it doesn't work in my device if I plug in earphone after joining voice while it was supposed to.
