I've noticed many similar things occurring accidentally in MMOs and the like, namely bugs or effects spreading in a pandemic-like manner, serving as a model to demonstrate how pandemics spread. In light of recent events, if an intentionally-created version could be done with discord, it would be a great source of information given the sheer number of users. How I see it could be done is by adding a profile badge that appears a short time after "infection", and having the infection spreadable even during that time period. How spreading could work would probably have to be that if you are in a server with infected people, and you are able to see their posts from while they were infected, you have a chance of becoming infected that increases with more posts and more "infected" users.

    Also after a time it would probably be a good idea to change the "infected" badge to "recovered", at which point the person would no longer be susceptible or contagious
