Discord freezing and lagging

For weeks discord has been lagging and freezing massively right after I open the software. It also occasionally freezes for a moment suddenly after a while of use. This has been happening after some update taken. Also pictures and link embeds either lag or don't appear at all. This behavior is not only limited to me, but other users I've discussed about this with.

    If your discord is lagging then it must be your wifi or something else.

    I would believe this to be case if I was using wifi, but I'll absolutely agree that it must "something". After all that's what I suggested. My assumption is some recent update, because it's not internet related problem, but only discord started acting obnoxiously and it's not only my problem but others' as well.
