I've been having the same problem at least since the most recent app update

Same here on my oneplus 8 pro. The camera happens, but no image is put into chat or saved to the device, at least not visibly

Also have this issue, and heard from someone online that at least 4 other people are having the issue

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one, I really hope this gets solved soon!

I had the same problem for a few days, I fixed it by removing Discord's authorization to take pictures, closing the app, then restarting it.
After I was prompted to grant access to the camera, it worked perfectly again.

Same issue here with hauwei p30 Pro. Probably an update from Discord has caused this issue. Annoying and very inconvenient when I'm an administrator trying to use discord for guidance.

Same problem with my Motorola Z4. As well as when you hit the expand button on that little half camera in the app, it'll open up the camera but treat any file taken while like that as a broken file

To soulou: I have done exactly what you said but still nothing, you're a lucky one. ^^"

I think Discord is trying to sort this. Today they've advised me 1) Uninstall and reinstall 2) Check the firmware of your phone that it's up to date 3) Check you're not in battery saving mode- go to normal mode if you are 4) Try switching from wifi to mobile data to see if it changes 5) Check to see if this happens with a different browser or computer type

I have to say, none of these worked for me but they may for some.

I am having the same issue on Android tracfone. Glad that I am not the only one but it is so frustrating! I am considering trying to un update the app, but that isn't a long term solution at all. I hope it gets fixed soon.

    To Mick:
1- I uninstalled and reinstalled the app 2 to 3 times already, yet nothing.
2- "Your software is up to date."
3- I never put my phone on battery saving mode.
4- I just tested on both, nope.
5- I got no computer for now but I doubt it'll work :')
I really hope Discord gets to fix this soon!

It stopped working also on my Samsung A01. I thought it was because I was low on memory, not that it had entirely stopped working for an entire range of people.

I've been in touch with Discord support and they are aware.

Whether they are doing anything is another question.

They 'say' this has been passed to technical support but I'm still waiting on an outcome.

If it's any consolation, I've contacted a Discord representative who informed me yesterday that he will escalate the issue.

I've sent a screen recording and a debug report, so it 'seems' they are proactive.  I don't know why they don't roll back the patch or patches they've done to determine the cause.

Been an issue for me as well.  Moto G7 Power.  First time I actually looked into the issue and found it on here that many have the same issue.  I'll report this issue to Discord too, maybe the more who complain that faster they will fix it.

also sometimes emojis doesn't work, it would just write the name and not icon/gif animation.

it happens both desktop and mobile, it happens many times when writing something in english and adding the emoji.

adding emoji without writing anything seems to work, both beta and official

Hello! I had the same problem and I just solved it thanks to this thread!

I did the same as Soulou

I went to the settings of the discord app (Directly in the settings of the phone) and I removed the permission of the cam

As a result, I kill the application and then I restarted it

When I wanted to take a picture, it asked me for permission, I gave back permission and it worked! Thank you :D

Glad it worked for you and Soulou, but unfortunately, it doesn't for me on my Huawei P30 Pro.

I denied permission, force stopped the application, and tried again. Admittedly, it did ask me if I would grant permission for the camera to work, and I allowed it, but the screen is still greyed out.

The discord representatives 'were' returning texts until a week or so ago, but they've gone quiet now.

Perhaps there's a patch coming out, but until that happens or they are kind enough to write to me/us again, I'm stuck without being able to take photos.

It makes the software much less appealing as the size of paragraphs and photos are already pretty limited.

Hey y'all! I'm so glad everything worked out for the most of you, the problem has been fixed after I had to install an update on my Huawei device just now! I think it's a system update issue rather than discord itself, I'm not sure. And as for Mick, I know it's been a month but I really hope the problem has gotten fixed, assuming you've gotten your update today or earlier.

Discord finally fixed it. Don't know how and don't know when and I wasn't notified. It doesn't make the click sound but that's fine. Thank you!
