Server Awards

A server I am currently involved with is often interested in hosting community-wide activities such as competitions, events, and others, many of which we would like to offer some kind of recognition for participating in. In the past we've used roles to signal a member's involvement, but as more events happen and some events repeat, we've found that using roles can quickly become tangled and messy from an administration perspective.

It would be great to have an awards system that is similar to roles in that they can be easily assigned and removed as needed, but distinctive in that they are separate from roles themselves while still providing recognition. Like roles, these awards would be server-specific.

As an example: if a community has a monthly art contest, an award could be given to the winner, such as "Art Competition Winner." If a winner is particularly talented and wins the competition a second month, the award could be given again, making it "Art Competition Winner x2." To do this with roles would mean making a 1x, 2x, 3x, etc. role for each award, whereas an award system would compress this into one listing that can be scaled at will.

On top of this, there could be options for customization, such as uploading images to represent each role, in-server flair, etc.
