Why on earth am I getting ping notifications when I'm not pinged? And how do I fix it?

I'm trying online status, but the one thing that's still happening and is annoying the everliving crap out of me is when I get the Discord ping notification while gaming when I haven't been pinged!!! Is there any way to fix this? I want to try to keep online mode on for a few reasons, but this is really deterring me from wanting to commit to it.

  If someone mentions you (@user) then edits or deletes the message, the ping stays.
