Improving Thread Notification Settings
As a user I would like to be able to change the default notification settings when joining a thread. Currently any time I join a thread it defaults to notifying me for every message, which is absolutely not what I want. I can change this, but I need to do it every time I join a thread.
It would be great to have a preference in settings so that I can change the default setting applied when I join any thread.
Another improvement here would be to make it simply use the notification setting for the server when joining a thread. As an example I always set my server notification settings to “only @ mentions”. If it used this preference when I joined a thread in that server that would be a huge improvement over the current behavior.

Agreed, defaulting to "All Messages" is not the behavior I'd prefer.

Why does this not inherit the server's setting when a new thread is made, or when you join one. That seems by FAR the best option. As it is, this is rife for abuse.

Agreeing as well, the current setup is a great way to sour members on threads when they are actually a really neat feature!

I see Threads as a "child" of a Channel.
You have Server Notification Settings.
Then, you can set a Channel's Notification Settings, Channels being "children" of Servers, to "Use Server Default," but a Channel can be different from the rest of the server by user-choice.
I feel that Threads, "children" of Channels, should have the following 2 notification options, in addition to the standard 3: "Use Server Default" and "Use Channel Default."
Following this logic, the thread default should be whatever the Channel's notification settings are, so it inherits from the Channel it is a "child" of, and the UI remains consistent, and also allows user to choose to make notification settings different if they choose, just like with Channels from Server settings.
