Notifications only when the app is open

The desktop or phone would have a setting ideally which generally goes "pings you (mentions/everything) ONLY when the app is open.

That way you can control when you get pinged so you wont have your computer or phone pinging when youre not there, or cant answer anything.

    So if you close the app, it wont ping you if you so choose.
