Threads Have More Potential!
I'm really loving the potential of threads, but at the moment I feel like it's limited to either the balance in permissions or the need to unlock longer inactivity durations through a pay wall.
What is most exciting about threads is that it really has a user friendly and easily accessible way for members in a server to choose what chats or topics they'd like to be a part of. Removing the need for third party react roles and allowing for more micro targeting of chats.
For example, right now I could add a react role bot to unlock different categories for users depending on what they want to engage with. Threads allows me to do this within a single text channel as well as removing the need for a bot to join that conversation.
At a bigger picture level, Threads can give admins the ability to clean up a server's channel list, whilst also providing more open access to members joining the channels/chats they want to engage with.
Below I've attached a photo of a test server I use to play with the structure of my actual server. Every channel with a ✅ is a channel that provides members with a choice of topics (in this test server utilising threads). When members jump into this main text channel, they can see the Thread topics available to join in the conversation with - allowing easy viewing of what options are available, and easily joinable through the threads Join button. Members also get the ability to view the thread first before joining.

Currently all these threads are text channels in my actual server, as you can imagine creating a much longer channel list to navigate for members.
The issue is, this way of cleaning up a server is amazing! But with longer inactivity like 1 week (which is ideal for this kind of set up) being locked behind the paid boosts, it would mean actively going in and unarchiving a thread every time it died. The other thing is only giving the permission to unarchive a thread to those with the Manage Thread permission on also locks up the workflow a bit. You could essentially have certain threads be kept alive by just those in the thread rather than mods or admins if the general member was defaulted to be able to unarchive a thread. For example, my server is for a twitch community and I've created a section called Gamer Chat where threads can be created for particular games like Minecraft. Anyone who wants to chat Minecraft, organise games or realms can do so in this thread. I don't play Minecraft though, so let these members chat amongst themselves. However with the Manage Permission, myself or mods are the only ones that can unarchive the thread when it goes down - it be more beneficial if anyone inside that thread could resurrect it if it died.
I know it's early days on Threads - but this ability to really clean up a server and give members a choice of how they want to engage and pretty much giving them the ability to customise their experience in the server without the need for react role bots is undeniably delicious haha. As well as being able to use main text channels as anchor points or like a table of contents for thread options that's easy to edit and add to if new threads are created or old ones aren't needed, is super open for members.
