Optional text channels for voice channels
I know this might not be the most useful feature in the world, and it may fall under the purpose of threads, but hear me out.
Out of all of the Discord servers I've been in, there's almost always a text channel specifically used for voice channel context. It could be used in case someone doesn't have a (working) microphone or can't speak for any reason, it could be used to share something like a YouTube video or an image relating to the current VC discussion, or it could be used for legitimately anything else VC-related. All too often, however, this sort of channel can become quickly crowded with messages relating to multiple VC's and multiple discussions—especially in a more public and/or active setting.
One way to solve this caveat would be to create separate text channels for each voice channel you have. While this definitely could work, I think it just increases the bulk of your server and can create mild confusion however you attempt to organize it. Threads could also be used to cut down on active discussions in one channel at a time, but I find those somewhat inconvenient for this purpose as it's just another process to find the corresponding thread for a voice channel when there are so many other, more efficient ways to accomplish it... and by this, I mean a way that doesn't yet exist, but hopefully will in the future.
Essentially, what you'd be able to do with my suggested method is turn on an optional text channel that can be viewed through a VC's tile view, a VC's pop-out window, and via a small button beside the voice channel's title. This text channel will basically act like a normal text channel, except it's tied with a voice channel (if you delete the channel, the text channel goes with it) and less heavy in terms of screen real estate. It's a simple, yet intuitive and effective solution that—I think—will be a game-changer for many servers. (Best of all, it's still optional!)
I've never really proposed many ideas like this before, but as a two-year user of Discord and the owner/staff of various server, I know a lot of the ins and outs of the service. Even if you don't find this useful, I know lots probably will. Thanks for taking the time to read this; any feedback you have—positive or negative—would be appreciated!! :D
