Some custom emojis refuse to work in text chat on mobile

Let's say I have an emoji called "woke" that I can definitely use anywhere on PC, but even on the server it's from it comes out as ":woke:" text when I try to send it in text chat on mobile. These same emojis work when used as reactions, however. I have had multiple friends experience the same problem with random emojis of theirs. This has been going on for months, has no one really reported this yet?

This seems to happen more frequently with emojis that share a name with other emojis.
