I can't support Discord if Discord supports Crypto

I am going to focus on NFT crypto mostly because that's what has affected ME, as a digital artist, the most. I will touch upon crypto and Ethereum in general throughout, though.

We've been fighting this fight for months and we are tired. We do not want NFTs. NFTs benefit nobody except the greedy rich running it. Their pushing point for NFTs is that it helps digital artists get a leg up in the world & guess what? Digital artists don't want to blink at NFTs. We have been shouting since day one that this is not the way to go.

Crypto directly harms the environment and for what? For a cute little trophy saying you own something others can right click save? For silly little coins that could disappear with a cord being unplugged?

NFTs are effectively illegal, and yet. 🤪🤪🤪

Stop being 'that guy' from your highschool please.

Edit: for all the NFTbros whose fingers work to write "I WANT NFTS <3<3" but cant seem to type "how do NFTs/cryptos harm the environment";

Cryptocurrency and NFTs are run on servers that stay running through the use of fuels that can't be easily replaced by the Earth, if at all. Y'know. Fossil fuels. That stuff you learned about in 5th grade but clearly forgot about as soon as you scored your passing grade you worked so hard for!

Becoming more energy efficient doesn't solve anything. I'm glad they're trying but that's literally the minimum effort response to lessen the backlash they get. "Becoming energy efficient" doesn't eradicate the copious amounts of energy n fuel this stuff will still take up.

You can't feign ignorance on this. Not when all of this information is at your fingertips. I sincerely hope you listen to the feedback you're getting on this, because I genuinely cannot support Discord if Discord supports crypto, and I know I'm not alone in that.

Crypto is NOT the future. Crypto is just another capitalistic ploy to get your money and make you feel like you're getting something in return, when you're not.
