Digital artist says please don't do NFT stuff.
As a digital artist, Discord has been a amazing place. Online classes, art communities, so many places to share my work, make friends, and find clients.
So as a digital artist, I'm begging you not to integrate NFTs in anyway.
Pushing past the fact that the prices are inflated due to money laundering, the art thrift, and multiple scams->
People who promote this don't respect the inherent value of digital art. When you commission a digital artist, you generally gain full or partial rights to a artwork. People can steal it, but people can take down stolen posts, or at least publicly shame the thief.
When you sell a nft, you're selling a link to the image. It isn't permanent, it doesn't prevent someone stealing the art, it has no positive effects other then the price. For the buyer, you don't own the image in a more meaningful way then the commissioner, it's just more complicated to get.
These people claim this somehow makes digital art more "legitimate". It's laughable and insulting.
They don't care about art or the artists, they just want to make money from reselling. If you go through with this, I and many other artists will have to jump ship. Most of us don't want to be associated with this.

i've seen them straight up just say the quiet part out loud, a while back in some other big twitter thread about NFTs (i think it was the hullabaloo that followed someone stealing art from the indie game Wildfire and selling it in their shitty NFT game-thing) someone kinda asked like, what's the point, and crypto bros legit just said it's about the monetary value of the piece.
also every time i make noise about this i get at least one of them slithering into my mentions or my DMs trying to be like "i just want to understand what problems you have with crypto and help you out :)" and it's so transparent. it's sales tactics for babies, it's the kind of stuff corporations i've worked for have tried to train me to say to sell people on bad store credit cards lmaoooooooo
