No Crypto/NFTs

I'm not going to make an appeal regarding the environment, because I know corporate is corporate and will do as corporate does. Just look at all of the threads here and think about how much of the userbase will be lost if there is any form of cryptocurrency or NFT integration. These things may seem like the future because they're all shiny and new, but they're not. They're a meme and a fad just like Left Shark or some other Thing long forgotten.

I know it's important to get in on new trends, because that's what marketing is all about, but this is less of a trend and more of a pyramid scheme or a yuppies' club. It appeals to such a small percentage of people (who are already financially volatile due to the nature of these things) that it is NOT worth losing so, so much of the userbase over.

Please just don't do this. It's really not worth it. The nature of the market is so rough that it may also end up getting the platform in some legal trouble down the line, and nobody wants to deal with that.

    Ethereum is improving environmental efficiency and this doesn’t mean discord couldn’t do NFTs in a non scammy way. Like badges for events you were at, or collectible/earnable profile pics, and just ignore the rest of the NFT universe

    They could do these things without NFT integration being a factor at all.

    Perhaps, but then what if Twiiter wants to see your Discord badgers and let you display them, or a new startup game that can't get Discords access for an API wants to let you display those badges in game? NFTs lets everyone integrate them, they're permisionless after all (Think indie-game dev integrations as Discord is notoriously shit at dev support so this would help)
