I fully depend on discord to stay in communication with my freelance work, with my twitch streaming community, my personal friends, and almost 2 dozen resource discords that I use for my work. I will be forced to IMMEDIATELY migrate at the moment of releasing an official announcement that any kind of cryptocurrency and or NFT support will be coming to the platform. I am not alone, you will lose every artist on the platform by doing this which you depend on for your global emotes that drives nitro sales.

    I've already ported my servers over to Guilded just in case as a backup -- it's really quite effortless, and while the service isn't perfect, I'm certain the influx of new users and currency will help them to smooth out the kinks in their platform! 

    We replaced BBSes. We replaced IRC. We replaced forums, AIM, and skype. And we can replace you, too, discord. I highly doubt you'll change course now -- CEOs can be incredibly bullheaded once they've made a decision -- but one can hope Discord won't become the instant messenger equivalent of tumblr and alienate the vast majority of their userbase to chase a spectre of profit unlikely to ever manifest. Time will tell.
