Canceling Discord Nitro until confirmation that Discord will NOT be engaging with/supporting NFTs/Cryptocurrency!

Hi there! Just popping by to say that Discord is the only place I have easy access to to chat on, and it has all my friends on it. If this NFT/Cryptocurrency thing is completed, then I'll have to find an alternative- which means potentially losing contact with all my friends, those who I can see face-to-face and otherwise.

For now, I've decided to cancel my Nitro subscription until there's confirmation that Discord will NOT be engaging in making NFTs/Cryptocurrency. I won't give my money to people who support this kind of stuff.

I will definitely reconsider Nitro if- and only if- this all gets cancelled. But I'm off it until then.

    It makes me sad to see all of this hate for NFTs. NFTs/Crypto have plenty of profiteering bad actors, but most of the space are well intentioned people building communities they care about, creating homes, families, and strong bonds through inclusion. Most NFT projects donate a significant portion of their post launch sales to charity, with the community of NFT holders voting on how the funds raised are donated and where. I feel that there is a lot of misinformation about the true nature of NFTs and blockchain, like its impact on the climate, its use in money laundering, and much more. The actions of the bad actors in the space should not condemn the good.

    I'm here to (hopefully) help improve the understanding of this new place. My life's goal is to revolutionize the gaming industry by using this technology to give players ownership over their gaming assets (NFTs) for the first time in history - to enable those who wish to, to turn gaming into a source of income and financial freedom, especially in third world countries where we are already seeing NFT games like Axie Infinity being used as a tool for escaping poverty and tyranny. These things are not all bad. Ethereum is the only major blockchain being used for NFTs that has a carbon footprint, most are carbon neutral and some are even carbon negative. Ethereum itself plans to reduce its carbon emissions by 99.95% over the next 1-2 years.

    I hope that one day we can all see through the bad actors and propaganda against this new tech and how in the right hands it is a tool for fairness and equality.
