Suggestion: IRC support
Discord is already designed an laid out pretty simlarly to IRC chat structure. You have servers that you can join, and within those servers various channels in which you go to chat. The channels are even prefixed by hashtags. It's almost like Discord was made for IRC.
I propose that Discord be made to function as an IRC client, able to connect to servers and join channels just like any other client. I'm not sure what would have to happen on the backend to make it happen, but Discord's current design would make it very easy to incorporate into the app. IRC servers would function the same as normal servers, but would have some kind of tag to show that they are IRC servers and not normal Discord servers. There could be an additional option in the add server menu for joining an IRC server, where you would put the address and all that information. Then within IRC servers everything would look mostly the same. All channels wouldn't be shown immediately, since in IRC you have to join channels, but you would still have the member list on the right and the channels you've joined listed on the left. There would also be a "main" or top level chat for the server itself, outside of any channel, since that's something that IRC has. A few other minor tweaks may have to made as well to get some of the finer details with IRC worked out, but as long as it can coded on the backend, I think it will fit very nicely into the interface.
I would love to see Discord become the best IRC client out there, and in my opinion at least, from my experience with other IRC clients, if Discord were made to support IRC, it would be the best IRC client by lightyears, at least in terms of design. Please consider this suggestion, I hope I'm not the only one who wants to see this happen.

I have seen this implemented with bots, it is definitely possible, I fear that Discord would rather support their locked down server system instead.
