Discord Linux desktop client (ubuntu 20.04 LTS) character-map problem

The Discord app seems to be having character-mapping problems with my OS. I don't have this problem with any other application, and I don't have this problem with discord when I run it in a browser (Firefox, Chrome).

Here is a link to an uploaded screenshot of the file-opening-window in the discord app. All the "system dialogs" have this character mapping problem.

It's kind of annoying. Mostly I use the in-browser version, because of this.
