Suggestion & Feedback for "Switch Accounts" option
Suggestion & Feedback for a Beta-Feauture
So, before I get to my proposal, I have to say that this is about a feature that is available in the PTB version of Discord, which I think is good. However, I think that this function can still be improved.
So if you make the effort and read this, it would be great if you vote for it!
What is this about?
So, now to the proposal and what function this is about. For some time now, everyone who uses the Discord Beta has had the function to switch between several accounts that you have created and registered yourself on the client, without having to always log in again. This is practical for all those who use multiple accounts. And of course this idea is great, but I think the execution could be done better.
For all users who don't use the beta, here's a short explanation on how to use the account switching function in the beta client (only on PC as far as I know): Next to your mute button is your profile picture, where you can also choose in normal Discord whether you want to be displayed "Online", "Idle", "Do not disturb" or "Invisible". Below the button where you create your status is the button "Switch Accounts". If you hover over this with your mouse, all the accounts that you have logged on to the client so far will be displayed. But you only see the profile pictures and names + tag of your accounts, nothing more.
So what is my suggestion?
First of all, I would like to suggest that the "Switch Accounts" button is not only displayed in the bottom corner where you set your status. Since you have to click on your profile picture first, and then only have a very small display of which account you want to switch to, it can happen that you click on the wrong account. This is annoying. The solution: I suggest that the "Switch Accounts" button either be placed on the top right bar next to "Inbox" and "Help", or when you go to your User Settings under the "My account" category, possibly just above "Password and authentication". This gives you easy access to the button, and more space for the developers to use to design the interface to which account you want to switch. It's a win-win situation for users and developers, isn't it?
How exactly I personally imagine this:
If the button is placed at the top of the bar next to "Inbox" and "Help", you should get an interface in the middle of the screen, just like when you press "View Profile" of a user. The interface would then have to be larger than the one with "View Profile", but that is clear. At the top of the interface you would then see "Switch Account", and below that all accounts would be displayed. Also with name and tag. But what I think would also be nice to see is how many unread notifications (i.e. pings on servers and unread DMs) you have on this account. This way the user knows directly that he has received an answer in DMs there, or that he has been pinged on a server. At the moment, to see if you have notifications on an account, you have to log in with that account. So that would save time and nerves of the users. So that's good too, isn't it?
However, if the "Switch Accounts" button is placed under "My Account" in the User Settings as I also suggested, then I would have thought that the button would be placed above "Password and authentication", and when you press this button, you will enter an interface that is similar to the "User Profile" interface. This means that on the left you still have your categories of "User Settings", "Payment Settings", etc., only the interface itself is different. There, all accounts you have logged in to should be listed from top to bottom, with name + tag and also the number of your notifications. In the best case, the last account you used should be at the top of the list, and the one you haven't used for the longest time should be at the bottom. If you then click on one of the accounts, you would see the profile of the selected account on the right of the list, as in the "User Profile" interface, i.e. profile picture section, profile colour, name + tag, status and "About Me". Below this information, there should be the button "Switch". That also makes it more easy.
Last words
I think that my suggestions make sense in order to make switching accounts more convenient and flexible for the users. My exact descriptions are only what I think would be optimal, what the development team does in the end is not my decision.
If you would also like to see the account switching feature added to Discord and made easier, please vote for it.
If you have any questions, I will try to answer them in the comments. I know my English isn't the best, so if there are any inaccurate descriptions, I'd be happy to talk about it again.

Yes, that is correct. It's definitely a good feature, and it would be great if it came in the stable Discord version. I just think that the way the feature is in Discord Beta right now can be improved. That's why I wrote this suggestion after all0
