Exiting threads on iOS is now clunky

I had been using Discord threads on my iPhone without issue until last time I updated the app. Now, whenever I'm viewing a thread, instead of having the usual menu button in the top left corner where I can pick another channel or thread, there is only a back button that takes me to the post in the original channel where the thread was first started.

This is profoundly useless. Most of the threads in the main server I frequent are long-running threads that essentially function as opt-in pseudo-channels, and I enter them from the channel list - I don't want to be taken to whatever irrelevant post several months ago started the thread (thus losing my place in the parent channel) every time I exit a thread to look at another channel.

Swiping from the left seems to be a workaround, but it's hell on my muscle memory and in general I really don't see the utility of replacing the menu button with this back button, at least not for a persistent thread that I didn't actually enter from the parent channel - there is no useful sense in which that's actually going "back".
