Functionality missing: Forward post in a public channel to another public channel. Has been available on Slack since 2017
Issue Example:
We share tutorial Youtube links to the public channel "Design Tutorials" [channel A].
We share design trends links/images/media to the public channel "Design Trends" [channel B].
When we find an example of a trend "in the wild" (in a music video, a brand publication, etc.) that already has a tutorial shared in Channel A, it is necessary to link that tutorial to the new trend post in Channel B.
Problematic workarounds:
Copy/Paste Channel A message — Using the message link to copy/paste in the new channel makes a mess because it is necessary to share with a second link (the youtube tutorial link and the "found in the wild" trend example link).
Use just one channel and reply with trends to tutorials in the same channel — this doesn't work because there is too much information in each thread to include more.
Use email — obviously we rather not go this route, which is why we use Discord as it is an email killer. We do not use email at all.
FWIW:
The "forward message" functionality has been available on Slack since Slack was released. They even allow forwarding to private channels if the permissions are appropriate.
Disappointed because I can feel our team slowly getting nudged back to Slack. Discord is more helpful in using various servers, or your own server for organizing complex notes, but missing basic functionality like this is not helping "kill email."
TL;DR —
What Discord functionality replicates the forwarding of an email from one group to another? No solution currently found.
Please help us continue to work without needing to use email.
