A bunch of suggestions
Hey there,
So, i've recently been wondering what we could use in discord to make our lifes a little easier, so here is my list:
Big additions
Friend folders: Like the server folders but with Direct Messags. I'm a busy man and I text a lot of people, sometimes I don't text with people for days and they end up somewhere on the bottom of my DM's. A folder to either add your "favorited' dm's or to drag your dm's into would be handy.
Being able to "pop out" a server: Just like you can "pop out" a stream in a voice call, it would be nice to be able to do the same with a particular server. I'm a community server owner, but I also have a private server for friends. For those that own multiple monitors, being able to monitor your community server while also watching your own doesn't sound too bad.
Custom Timeout: I've recently switched over from the ?mute by dyno to the timeout, but one thing is especially bothering me. I can't set custom times? Its either a minute, an hour a day or a week. Which imo is far from eachother. Just an hour ago I wanted to mute somebody for 2 hours and I didn't have that option.
Event Calender: The new event thingy up top is amazing, buuuut it would be nice if we could turn that into a "calender" type of deal and maybe even add that into a channel? Perhaps as embedded or something? It would also be nice if we could make it send a message when an event is life maybe pinging people in particular?
Staff Roles: While I know many people have found many "work arounds" for the whole seperate staff from members deal. I feel like custom staff roles doesn't sound too bad? The ability to for example make members with the "Moderator" role have a bold name, or a cursive name, etc. Perhaps give it an outline around the name?
Stage Discovery: God do I miss those. I remember spending nights going through Stage Discovery to find new servers and listen to talents. When I realized it was gone, I was devastated. I thought it was a thing to stay. Bring those back pleaaaseee
A Discord Music bot: Since groovy and all bots have been spanked into oblivion for using youtube as there music source. A discord music bot wouldn't be a bad idea. A verified bot that plays music from Youtube and that Discord and Youtube have a deal with perhaps? I know its more then just "add a bot" and done. But perhaps you could make it a payed bot to fund the deal between youtube and discord? And it adds another way of supporting discord. I'm sure the opinions will be devided about this one. I've been a nitro sub for years now and I don't intend to switch :D
Minor changes
Allow channel pinging in events: Adding the channel is one thing, but you can't actually press the channel and go straight to it in the events tab.
Discords own statistics counter: A lot of bots have a way of counting members, online members, channels, etc. Why does discord not have this by standard?
Categories in roles: What I mean by this is having some sort of way to create "lines" inbetween roles. For the community server, I have a ton of roles. And sometimes its very hard to find the 1 role you need. Being able to put roles under a certain categorie like you can with channels would do wonders. Maybe its just me but tons of roles gets also very laggy and buggy when saving or updating them. Being able to make them hidden in a category might solve this?
All these ideas are just that, ideas. I'd like to hear your opinions on it and why it might not work. I'm really curious how discord will turn out.
Thanks :D
