Allow reporting malicious Direct Messages
Currently the only way to report a malicious message or link sent via Direct Message is by sending a request to T&S. With the rise of Nitro and other phishing scams sent to users via Direct Message, it would be helpful if we could report malicious content directly via the message.
The current method for reporting malicious DMs pose a number of issues:
- New users who may be most vulnerable to these types of messages may not be familiar with the ticket system or how to get a message ID, user ID, etc
- Requests to T&S cannot be submitted without a valid message ID. If the malicious message or link is deleted, a report cannot be submitted
- Community members are encouraged to block users who send malicious content. This could make it slightly more difficult to get the information needed to submit a ticket to T&S
Most phishing scams and other malicious links are sent directly to users in DMs in order to remain undetected by AutoMod and server moderators. Reporting malicious messages directly from the DMs would greatly reduce the number of incidents that go unreported due the effort involved with making a ticket.
