Displaying activities of strangers in the friends tab

I have suggestions for displaying activities in the Friends tab:
Currently, it shows activities of users you are not friends with but are on a shared server with. It also shows when people you are not friends with are in a voice channel on a shared server.

I would like to see options to set all this.
Support replied that this was the intention of the designers, but that I should post it here as feedback. I would therefore be very happy to receive further opinions on this because it has often bothered me.
