A way to post announcements about our bots

Moderators could set up a channel where a bot's announcements will be posted, and whenever the bot makes a request to this endpoint (i.e POST /announcement with a JSON param for embeds), it appears in that channel

This way we can easily let people know about the updates on our bots etc.

    Announcement channels exist and bots can use them

    Enable community, post a message to the announcement channel, then use the cross-post message endpoint that's listed on the docs

    People have to join to the bot's server and click get announcements for that, most users won't bother

    Bots had a global announcement feed years ago, Discord tossed that in the trash and I doubt they'll be bringing it back

    Even the people that care might not know it's possible, and update notes are something every user would care about if the bot is in their server, I wonder why they tossed that idea away

    They're pretty visible, they have a different icon and clicking into the channel shows multiple follow buttons, and even a banner that says "Follow this channel's updates in your own server"

    My bot is in 250 servers, the support server invite is in its bio, help command, top.gg and readme pages, yet the server has 7 users of the bot... This really isn't a reliable solution if it means users have to go through yet another step just to get the info that all the users of the bot should know

    7 users from 250 servers is quite high, that's almost 3% - It's typically less than 1%, sometimes even 1% of 1% (0.01%)

    Sure that's low, but think on it - you'd get the exact same, if not less with some other system

    Conversion of users into some arbitrary system will always be low, tossing a whole new wrench into the equation isn't the solution

    This isn’t another wrench, it’s simply a setting in the server to select a channel for bot updates, similar to how they select one for Discord related updates, Discord could even merge these two kinds of channels!
