What Are Profile Effects?

Profile effects are unique and snazzy animated effects that play on your profile when someone views your profile. In the Shop, you can buy and collect a variety of effects that’ll let you personalize and decorate your Discord profile and wow your profile admirers! Purchased effects are yours to keep and apply to your profile whenever you want.

How Can I Collect A Profile Effect?

You can head over to the Shop to preview and purchase profile effects!

Option 1

1. Navigate to your Direct Messages list by selecting the Discord app icon in the upper left corner.

2. Then, press the Shop tab to enter the Shop!

Option 2

1. Navigate to your User Settings > Profiles.

2. Once there, you will see the banner to the Shop where you can select Check it out. You can also select Change Effect and select the Shop icon.

3. Once directed to the Shop, you can preview and buy profile effects to add to your collection.

Purchased profile effects are yours to keep and can be used at any time! Items available for purchase in the Shop will change periodically.

How Do I Apply A Profile Effect To My Profile?

Desktop

1. On the desktop app or web app, head into your User Settings by selecting the cogwheel [].

2. Once directed to your User Settings, select the Profiles tab to view your profile settings.

3. Then, press the Change Effect button to open the Add Profile Effect selection menu.

4. Once you have chosen the profile effect you would like, select Apply to add the effect to your profile.

5. After you apply a profile effect, you will need to confirm your changes by selecting Save Changes.

Mobile

1. On your mobile device, head into your User Settings by tapping your avatar.

2. From here, select Edit Profile. This will navigate you to the Profile page where you can tap Profile Effects to navigate to the Add Profile Effect page.

3. In the Add Profile Effect menu, select the desired profile effect you would like to apply.

4. Once you’ve found the profile effect you would like to use, tap Apply then Save in the upper-right corner to confirm your changes.

Q: Who can currently access the Shop and buy and use profile effects?

A: The Shop is available to all Discord users. If you are also a Nitro member, you will have special member pricing on all purchases within the Shop!

Q: How do I get a discount on profile effects in the Shop?

A: Only Nitro members have access to special member pricing in the Shop. You can find more information about Nitro here.

Q: Is localized pricing available for profile effects?

A: Localized pricing is available for profile effects in some countries. You should see localized pricing options in the Shop if you are eligible. You can learn more about localized pricing here.

Note: Profile effect gifts are not available at localized prices. Depending on a user’s region, they may be able to pay for a gift in their local currency, but the price will still be equivalent to the USD price.

Q: Do I keep the profile effects I’ve purchased?

A: Yes, any profile effects you’ve purchased are yours to keep and use anytime, even without an active Nitro subscription.

Q: Can I refund a profile effect I’ve purchased?

A: No, profile effects are non-refundable. You can learn more about our Refund Policy here.
Q: Can I refund Nitro after buying a profile effect?

A: No. If you’ve purchased a profile effect within 5 days of your Nitro subscription renewing or becoming a new Nitro member, you will not be eligible to refund that Nitro subscription.

Q: Do I get to keep the DISXCORE profile effects I’ve collected?

A: The Nitro exclusive DISXCORE profile effects can be freely collected by Nitro members, but require an active Nitro subscription to use. If you decide to cancel your Nitro subscription, the effects will remain in your collection but you won’t be able to use them.

Q: Can I gift profile effects to others?
A: At this time, items purchased from the Shop like profile effects cannot be gifted to others.

Q: Can profile effects be turned off? I don't want to see them.

A: If you’re trying to completely disable any profile effects from animating within the app, you’ll need to go User Settings > Accessibility > Enable Reduced Motion. Toggling this on will prevent any effects from animating, including other users’.
