new message requests opt out

according to the info page about these message requests i should only be seeing the message request tab in my dms when there is a message waiting for approval, but it is just sitting there empty and cannot be closed out which is extremely irritating. additionally, not having a universal opt-out method is unacceptable. having to go through the dozens of servers im in and manually turn the setting off in each individual server makes no sense and is ridiculously time consuming. if the feature is going to sit at the top of our dms taking up space for no reason, at least provide an easy universal opt out method for the feature.
