Team Ownership Transfer or Verified Bot Transfer Upon Account Deletion, or Inactive/Inacessible - Auto pass ownership to oldest member on team, allow a team member to claim ownership, etc (Or just allow other team members to re-verify for verified bots).
EDIT: Since this re-verification updated every 3 years required for verified bots, this has been updated since it is more crucial than ever.
In the event a developer team owner account has been deleted, inactive, inaccessible, etc. There should be some method to transfer ownership, pass on ownership, or allow ownership to be claimed.
Potential methods:
- Automatically transfer team ownership to the only other member on the team if there is only 1 member
- Automatically pass on ownership to the oldest admin/developer/member on the team if more than 1 member. (The member who has been on the team longest)
- Allow team members to claim ownership or vote for a new owner
- For owner accounts inactive/inaccessible, allow team members after XX time (3, 6, 12, 24, or 36 months) to initiate a transfer request which notifies the team owner and requires them to “check-in” to stop the transfer initiation request. After 7-60 days where owner doesn't “check-in” the team members can claim ownership or vote for a new owner
Secondary alternative:
- Allow another team member to do the re-verification process with Stripe.
Especially in the case with a verified bot or active bot(s). Asking users to create a new bot is not logical, as there is no efficient way to reach out to thousands or tens of thousands of server owners to add the new bot. Not to mention, it ruins the bots creation date that is now displayed on bios. It's just entirely unreasonable to ask this of developers and makes it questionable for server owners being asked to invite a new bot.
I think I speak for many developers when I say we've put in countless hours, sleepless nights, a ton of effort, sacrifices, and perhaps even at the cost of our mental health to build our Discord apps/bots and provide a great user experience to a large number of servers/users to be expected to just start from scratch and create a new bot and have to convince servers to add the new one. Our apps/bots are what makes Discord a great platform for many servers and users, why not work with us and provide some type of method or support in approving transfer requests to help us on improving and progressing our apps/bots and continuing to build and bring them to more Discord users. Why enforce us to start from scratch? I wouldn't blame anyone for just giving up at that point and shutting their bot down, as it may have taken years for them to achieve where they are at today. Just asking server owners to add a new bot is lack of a better word, “sus”.

Couldn't agree more.
This problem is overlooked because it's very uncommon, but indeed a big issue. Our verified bot is in over 4,300 servers so we can't just go asking all the servers to add a new point for the reasons Trey already pointed out. The alternative of creating a new bot and asking 4,300+ servers to add it is just completely preposterous.7 -
why isn't there a solution for this already? thanks for sharing this trey, happy to offer my support for your feedback. I 100% agree with it, even if the exact method isn't used, users should be able to claim ownership of a team when the owners account is deleted.

I don't understand spanish, didn't know you were trying to get my attention until I translated your message. But you can find me on Discord "rich#0003" or join discordd.gg/tradehub2 -
Our server’s owner got hacked and we need to transfer ownership from their old account to their new one, but we can’t because we’d need access to their account. In cases like this, there needs to be a way to forcefully transfer the ownership. Perhaps if more than half of the admins vote to do so.
P.S. If someone could help us that would be greatly appreciated
